Over the past decade many rock/metal albums have suffered from increasing levels of loudness to stand out from others.

Most recently Metallica newest album Death Magnetic has become the worst victim of this war. A petition on this site was created to try and get Metallica to remaster the record after a rip from Guitar Hero III showed how bad the problem was. So far that request has fallen on deaf ears.
